Goiburu Golf Course sits near the Leizarán Valley, just eight kilometres from San Sebastián, framed by beech and centuries-old oak woodland that borders the fairways throughout. Juan Carlos Lapazarán designed the course, which officially opened in 2002 with José María Olazábal on hand as guest of honour.
The nine holes run to 2,603 metres at par 35, a mix of two par 3s, six par 4s and one par 5, doubling to a full par 70 across 18. It's a genuinely technical layout, better suited to golfers with some course management already in their game than complete beginners, with the surrounding forest lending every hole its own distinct character.
A driving range, golf academy, locker rooms and putting green are all on site, alongside a year-round indoor golf simulator for wet-weather practice and a social lounge with restaurant. For golfers looking for a genuinely challenging, well-appointed round close to San Sebastián, Goiburu is well worth the visit.
