Jarama R.A.C.E. Golf Course

Jarama R.A.C.E. Golf Course opened in 1967, designed by Javier Arana as part of the Real Automóvil Club de España's sports complex north of Madrid, built alongside the Jarama motor racing circuit on the same grounds. Nearly six decades on, it remains one of the longest courses in Spain, stretching over five kilometres, and has hosted major amateur and professional events including the Spanish Open.

Oak and pine trees frame every hole here, close enough in places to punish a wayward tee shot from the fairway itself. The course plays wide and open with fifty-nine bunkers doing the defensive work rather than water, which barely features across the round — a different kind of test to most Madrid courses, rewarding accuracy over raw power without ever feeling unfair to mid-handicap players. The club rebuilt every bunker on the course ahead of hosting the first Comunidad de Madrid Ladies Open, on recommendations from the Ladies European Tour, so conditioning here has had real recent investment.

Facilities include a driving range, academy, and locker rooms, alongside a separate 9-hole par-3 course for shorter sessions. Few courses this close to Madrid carry this much genuine championship history — worth the drive north.
