León El Cueto Golf Course sits twelve kilometres from central León, in San Miguel del Camino, and stands as the only 18-hole course in the entire province. It's the centrepiece of León Golf, a sporting complex owned by the Sacyr group, close to the airport and within easy reach of Astorga.
Manuel Piñero, the Spanish Ryder Cup player, designed the par 72 course, running 6,325 metres, and brought real competitive-level thinking to the layout. Low oak woodland and gentle undulation frame wide fairways, with numerous bunkers, several lakes and large, well-contoured greens giving the course genuine bite without ever feeling unfair. It's matured beautifully over the years, and is regarded as one of the better-maintained rounds in this part of Spain.
A genuinely substantial practice range, 350 metres long with around 80 bays, sits alongside two putting greens, a chipping green and locker rooms, with tennis, padel and a summer pool rounding out the wider complex. For golfers wanting a serious, well-designed round near León, this is the pick.
