Riocerezo Golf Course sits ten kilometres from Burgos, at the foot of the Sierra de Atapuerca, a landscape with genuine prehistoric significance beyond the fairways. Alfonso Mata designed the course, opening it in 2002 across flat, comfortable terrain built for an easy, enjoyable walk.
The par 72 layout runs wide throughout, with generous fairways and greens giving golfers room to breathe, while numerous water hazards supply the real test. The 17th stands out as the course's flagship hole, a par 4 dogleg played to an island green that demands real precision on the approach, with the closing 18th, a narrow, elevated green guarded by bunkers, providing a genuinely testing finish.
A driving range, well-regarded golf academy, locker rooms and putting green are all on site. For golfers looking for an easy, well-appointed round close to Burgos, with a real test waiting at the 17th, Riocerezo is a strong choice.
