Altea Golf Club
Altea is one of the oldest courses on the Costa Blanca, founded in 1974 in the foothills of the Sierra Bernia by Luis Campomanes, with Gregorio Sáenz and Pedro Barber laying out the original nine holes. A full round here means playing those nine holes twice, from a different set of tees each time, for a combined par-72 round that feels genuinely varied rather than repetitive.
The course climbs and falls with the mountain terrain beneath it, framed by mature pine forest and set within easy reach of Altea's old town, long a favourite with artists for its light and its views. Difficult holes alternate with gentler recovery holes throughout, rewarding accuracy over raw distance, and several tees open up views across to the sea or the surrounding Marina Baixa mountains.
A driving range, practice academy and clubhouse restaurant sit alongside the course, with golf lessons available for those looking to sharpen their game. Book Altea for a genuinely historic round in one of the Costa Blanca's most scenic settings.

We got rained off on the first day but returned the following day to play 18.
Greens were in a very bad state but I believe they were hit with a very bad disease last year so that explained how bad they were.
Staff in the pro-shop and clubhouse were very helpful and the food was excellent in the Jarcanda restaurant.
One word of note if you do play this course make sure you have your own transport organised as we were waiting nearly 4 hours for taxis

This time we shared a flight with a German couple, very pleasant couple do we had a good round. It was busy so a bit slow play, but never the less a nice experience. The food was great again.

Although it was Sunday and a busy day according to the nice lady at the reception, we played well especially the second round was much faster.

Not very impressive, but high hospitality. Old building and toilets, but good food. The course was not so difficult as am used to in Portugal
