Costa Brava Golf Course Green

Costa Brava Golf Course Green traces back to 1962, when the club was founded in Santa Cristina d'Aro, though the original 18 holes didn't open until 1968. John Hamilton Stutt designed it, a founding member of the British Association of Golf Course Architects whose other credits include Turnberry's Ailsa Course and St Mellion Old, and it shows in a layout built to last. In 2011, nine further holes by Jorge Soler Peix gave the club a second combination, the Red course, alongside this original Green routing.

The front nine winds tightly through pine and cork oak, demanding precision over power, before opening into a flatter, wider back nine where length starts to matter more. It's a course of two distinct halves, each asking something different of the round, and it finishes at a well-guarded 18th green just below the clubhouse terrace. Streams and gentle elevation changes keep the back nine from feeling too relaxed.

The clubhouse itself is a Catalan farmhouse dating to 1841, one of the oldest golf clubhouses on the Costa Brava, with views back over the course from the restaurant terrace.
