Costa Brava Golf Course Red

Costa Brava Golf Course Red shares its roots with the club's original Green layout, both born from the same 1962 founding and John Hamilton Stutt's 1968 design in Santa Cristina d'Aro. The Red course is the newer combination: it borrows the middle stretch of the original routing, adds nine holes designed by Jorge Soler Peix in 2011, and closes out on the same finishing holes as the Green course, all set among pine and cork oak beneath the Cadiretes massif.

Playing to a par of 73, it's the longer and more demanding of the club's two combinations, with a stroke index that runs noticeably differently for men and women, worth checking before you tee off. The newer Soler Peix holes bring a different texture to the round than Stutt's original routing, tree-lined and technical rather than wide open, and the whole course carries you back to the same clubhouse finish as its sister layout.

That clubhouse is a Catalan farmhouse dating to 1841, with restaurant views back down over the 18th. Book Costa Brava Golf Course Red for the longer test of the club's two courses, and pair it with the Green course for two genuinely different rounds on the same historic ground.
