Layos Golf Course

Layos Golf Course opened in 2001 near Toledo, designed by Blake Stirling and Marco Martin of Global Golf — their first course on the Spanish mainland, and one that quickly became a favourite among Madrid golfers. Set across more than 100 hectares bordering the Guajaraz reservoir, framed by the Sierra de San Vicente and the Montes de Toledo, it's built to a genuinely professional standard: the course has hosted the Challenge de España, an Alps Tour event, and several finals of the Madrid Professional Circuit.

The layout balances long holes against well-bunkered fairways and greens, with four lakes coming into play across six holes, including a genuine island green that's become the course's signature. Young, still-maturing trees line much of the round, a course that's noticeably improved as it's grown into its landscape over more than two decades. It rewards a balanced, considered game rather than pure power, fair to a wide range of abilities while still demanding real shot-making from anyone chasing a low score.
