Pablo Hernandez Golf Course opened in the early 2000s near Torrijos, less than an hour from Madrid, designed by Enrique Javier Gil and Guillermo Santacruz. It plays an unusual trick: eleven distinct holes combine into a full eighteen-hole, par-70 round, giving the course more variety than its footprint might suggest.
Gentle hills and natural lakes define the round, with water in play on more than half the holes and a genuine island green closing things out. Fairways run narrow and greens small and heavily contoured, rewarding precision and course management over raw length, and the abundant birdlife around the water hazards makes for a genuinely peaceful round. This is a tranquil, unpretentious test that asks more of a player's short game than their driver.
Facilities include a driving range and locker rooms, set within a genuinely relaxed, family-run club. Book ahead for an easy-going day out that trades scale for real character.
