Llanes Golf Course

Llanes Golf Course sits on a plateau 100 metres above sea level between the villages of Cué and Andrín, with the Cantabrian Sea running along one side and the Cuera mountains, part of the Picos de Europa range, rising on the other. Opened in 1989, it was the third public 18-hole course built anywhere in Spain.

J.M. Canfrán and Manuel Piñero designed the course as a Scottish links-style layout, planted with native grass rather than the manicured turf typical of resort courses further south. Rivero Golf Design later reworked much of the back nine, sharpening a round that already made the most of genuinely open coastal terrain. It's a course built to be played in the wind, with sea views on one side and mountain views on the other for almost every hole.

A driving range, putting green and junior golf academy round out the facilities, alongside equipment rental for visitors travelling light. Open to the public year-round, Llanes is an easy, striking round to build into any stay along Asturias's eastern coast.
