Lugo Golf Course

Lugo Golf Course was founded in 1992 as the first course in the province, designed by Asturian architect José Manuel Canfrán and built between 1994 and 1997. It sits about seven kilometres from the city, in the valley of the Dorna and Villamoure rivers, among centuries-old oak trees at Santa Marta de Fixós. The following year, the Xunta de Galicia named it Galicia's best golf club.

The layout runs 9 holes, par 72, long and wide off the tee. Four lakes come into play through the round, and a stream and a river both cross the course, with trees lining nearly every hole. The terrain is gentle, with no significant elevation change, and the difficulty sits at a comfortable middle ground — a modern, park-style course with a design that rewards accuracy without punishing every miss.

The clubhouse has a terrace overlooking the course, alongside a driving range and a four-hole pitch and putt for practice. The club stays open year-round and holds reciprocal agreements with courses across Spain and Portugal, worth knowing if you're already a member elsewhere.
