Mar Menor golf course sits close to the Mar Menor lagoon in Murcia, within easy reach of San Javier airport and the resort's own beaches. Dave Thomas laid out the original nine holes, and Jack Nicklaus later extended the course to a full eighteen, giving Mar Menor the distinction of being the first course built on what became the Nicklaus Golf Trail in the region.
The two designers' styles are still visible in the round: an accuracy-first opening stretch gives way to a more expansive back nine, with undulating greens rewarding a ball placed in the right part of the fairway rather than the longest drive. The course can lull you into comfort early, then holes 13, 14 and 15 close in around a man-made lake and demand full concentration, the 15th in particular testing patience with tight, bunker-guarded landing areas.
A clubhouse, spa and full practice facilities sit alongside the course, making it easy to turn a round into a full day. Book Mar Menor for a resort course that rewards a thinking game from the first tee to the last.

The Course was in really good condition. Greens were pretty good aswell. Some of The Greenside Bunkers looked as if they needed more sand in them but it had been very windy for a couple of days before I played. Good Track.

Enjoyed the golf course. It was in good condition. Some of the bunkers
need more sand and we feel that the greens were a bit slow

Very disappointed to find out that a random person had been added to our 3 ball without our knowledge and it didn’t help when the person wasn’t that social. This definitely detracted from out enjoyment of that course.
