Real Aeroclub de Santiago Golf Course belongs to one of Galicia's oldest clubs, with more than seventy years of history, though its golf course and sporting facilities were fully rebuilt and reopened in 2014. The result is a course that plays every bit as modern as its setting near Santiago de Compostela suggests.
Alfonso Vidaor designed the par 71 layout around the land rather than over it, working in the old stone field walls known locally as corredoiras alongside native oaks, birches and chestnuts. It's a double-loop design, sharing nine greens across both nines, and water hazards and lakes come into play throughout, rewarding precision and course management over raw length. This is a round built for thinking golfers rather than big hitters.
A driving range, golf academy, locker rooms and putting green are all on site, part of a wider sporting complex that includes tennis, padel and swimming pools. For golfers who want a genuinely well-designed, technical test close to Santiago de Compostela, this is one to build into the itinerary.
