Real Club de Golf Castiello

Real Club de Golf Castiello is the oldest golf club in Asturias, founded in 1958 by Félix Cifuentes and around 200 fellow enthusiasts on a hilltop five kilometres from Gijón. What began as nine holes across 160,000 square metres grew to the full 18 in 1981, and the club earned its Royal title in 1998, though it wears the honour lightly.

The course sits comfortably into its setting, rolling gently between mature trees, open meadows and old orchards, with views that shift constantly across the round. It's a course of medium difficulty rather than brute challenge, genuinely enjoyable for players of most levels, and its pedigree speaks for itself: the club has won the Spanish men's Interclub championship five times and the women's three, most recently in 2025.

The clubhouse, a traditional Asturian house at the heart of the grounds, adds real character, with a driving range, locker rooms, putting green, restaurant and outdoor pool rounding out the facilities. Despite the Royal name, Castiello is a genuinely welcoming club for visitors, making it an easy, enjoyable round to build into a stay near Gijón.
