Real Club de Golf Tenerife

Real Club de Golf Tenerife was founded on 18 December 1932, making it the second-oldest golf club in Spain, with roots tracing back further still to the Orotava Golf Club (1896) and the Tenerife Golf Club (1912). The course itself was designed by four of the club's own members — Andrés Alberto, Antonio Lucena, Joaquín Laynez and Aureliano Yanes — and sits at El Peñón, Tacoronte, 600 metres above sea level in the coolest, greenest part of the island.

The layout runs 18 holes, par 71, 5,740 metres, set among century-old native trees on what was once farmland and fruit orchards. The Barranco de la Milagrosa, a deep ravine, cuts through the course from the 13th down through the 12th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 17th, and the real elevation change across the round makes a buggy worth having. Four long par-5s reward the stronger hitters. The club hosted the Spanish Open in 1964.

Facilities include a covered, floodlit driving range set on a slope, a golf school, two putting greens, a full par-3 approach hole with its own bunker, and a clubhouse with a restaurant, pro shop and changing rooms. Book Real Club de Golf Tenerife through Tee Times for a round with genuine history, cooler air, and century-old trees standing over every hole.

Golf course although quite difficult was in excellent condition the staff were helpful and friendly I would recommend this course as one to play, it had some terrific scenery and was quite laid back, and not rushed.

Gary Blight 2026-03-12
Charming traditional golf course, nice layout, good greens and decent place of play, friendly staff and a half way hut serving sandwiches and drinks, would recommend.

The course was in very good condition, but it is a very hard course to play. Lots of hills, wind and forced carries. Fairways and greens very well kept. Driving range is far away from the first tee and somewhat difficult to get to but the club house gives you free range balls to warm up with to get ready for play.
