Salamanca Golf Course

Salamanca Golf Course opened in 1990 on the Monte de Zarapicos, designed by Manuel Piñero and later reworked by Rafael del Castillo. It holds a genuine distinction: the oldest golf course in Castilla y León, set within classic dehesa charra countryside, holm oaks and gentle hills that have barely changed in the thirty-plus years since the course was cut into them.

The layout is spacious and technical without punishing a mid-level game, wide enough for confident hitters to open their shoulders but demanding real precision into large, fast, well-bunkered greens. There's little in the way of severe elevation change, which keeps the walk comfortable across all eighteen holes despite the surrounding hill country, and an artificial lake comes into view from several holes. It's been tested at the highest level too, hosting the Spanish Championship in 1998 and the Women's International Open in 2002.

Facilities include a driving range, academy, and locker rooms, part of a wider club that also includes the Villamayor course nearby. This is genuine golfing history in one of Spain's most distinctive landscapes — well worth the trip out from the city.
