Villamayor Golf Course opened in 1999, four kilometres from Salamanca, designed by Juan Catarineu across 74 hectares of genuinely varied terrain. It's earned a reputation as one of the ten highest slope-rated courses in Spain, a course that tests as much through sheer design difficulty as length.
The layout splits distinctly in two. The front nine follows an English style, respecting the natural topography of the site with two lakes working their way into play across several holes. The back nine turns markedly American, cut through the most rugged ground on the property to create dramatic, sculpted holes unlike anything on the front. Numerous bunkers guard the greens throughout, demanding real strategic thinking and every club in the bag rather than a single reliable approach shot.
Facilities include a driving range, academy, and locker rooms, part of the wider Salamanca Golf & Country Club alongside the historic Zarapicos course. This is a genuinely technical test for players who want their game properly examined — book ahead and take it on.
