Altorreal sits in the hills above the Murcia valley, a short drive from the city and one of the more established courses in the region since Dave Thomas designed it in 1994. Two nine-hole loops, both starting and finishing at the clubhouse, give the round a natural rhythm while the elevated setting keeps the Murcian countryside in view from almost every hole. Variety is what defines Altorreal. Undulating greens, well-placed bunkers and water at the 9th and 18th mean no two holes ask quite the same question, and the course rewards a golfer willing to use every club in the bag rather than lean on one shot shape. The par-5 6th is the one to watch, its length making it the most demanding test on the card. Three decades of maturity have only sharpened the character that made this course a fixture on the Costa Cálida in the first place. A restaurant, driving range and full clubhouse facilities sit close to the first tee, ready for a proper day out. Book Altorreal for a genuinely varied round with the kind of history few courses in the region can match. (...)
El Valle occupies a genuine desert valley in Murcia, its fairways threading between rocky limestone hills a short drive inland from the coast. Jack Nicklaus designed the course, which opened in 2007 as part of the Nicklaus Golf Trail, and it has since hosted the OKI Open de España Senior on the European Senior Tour along with European Tour qualifying events. This is a course built on options rather than muscle. Nicklaus gives golfers several lines off the tee, then defends elevated, well-protected greens that ask for precision on the approach. The desert vegetation and native rock outcrops are as much a part of the challenge as the bunkering, and the layout rewards a golfer who thinks a hole through before committing to a club. At 6,355 metres and par 71, there is enough length to test without ever feeling like a slog. A clubhouse terrace looks straight down over the course and valley below, the ideal spot to replay the round afterwards. Book El Valle for a genuinely different test on the Costa Cálida, backed by tournament pedigree and a setting unlike anything else in the region. (...)
Hacienda Riquelme sits between the village of Sucina and the Sierra de Carrascoy natural park in Murcia, a Nicklaus Design course built with genuine room to breathe. Wide fairways wind past olive groves and wildflower meadows, with the surrounding hills a constant backdrop to the round. The course gives golfers options rather than obstacles: generous driving areas open onto elevated, well-protected greens, and while the bunkering is rugged, the greens themselves are large enough to leave a way back into the hole. Large lakes come into play across the round, adding both challenge and character to a layout built on strategy rather than sheer difficulty. The par-4 18th closes things out in style, widely regarded as one of the best finishing holes in the Murcia region. The resort setting means space is never in short supply, on the course or around it. Book Hacienda Riquelme for a round that rewards smart course management in one of Murcia's more naturally beautiful settings. (...)
La Torre is a Nicklaus Design course in Murcia, part of the original Nicklaus Golf Trail built through the Polaris World developments in the mid-2000s. At par 68 it's the shortest course on that trail, but shortness here means precision, not an easy ride. Large bunkers line fairways that look wider than they play, and the greens are well enough defended that reaching them in regulation takes real thought rather than raw distance. Six par-3 holes give the round its identity, each one a genuine test in its own right, and stacking six of them into eighteen holes makes for a course that keeps you honest from the first tee. It suits mid to high handicappers looking for a fair fight, while low handicappers still need to manage their game carefully to card a good score. A driving range and putting green sit close to the course, ready for a proper warm-up before you start. Book La Torre for a compact, tactical round that rewards smart course management over power.
