Campoamor has tested golfers on the Orihuela Costa since 1988, when Carmelo García Caselles's design was inaugurated by HRH Juan de Borbón, Count of Barcelona. The tournament held in his honour every August is still a fixture on the course's calendar, a reminder of its standing on this stretch of coast.
The course sits across two valleys within the Dehesa de Campoamor, with low hills sheltering it enough to create its own microclimate and keep it playable year-round. At 6,277 metres and par 72, it's a proper test without ever feeling punishing, helped by fairways and greens kept to a genuinely high standard and framed by the area's lush vegetation and wildlife. Elevated tees offer some of the best views on the round, adding a bit of theatre to holes that already ask good questions of the approach.
A driving range, practice academy and clubhouse sit close to the first tee, backed by a resort built for a longer stay. Book Campoamor for a well-established course with real royal pedigree behind it.This golf course has been challenging experienced golfers since 1988 when it was inaugurated as Real Club de Golf Campoamor by HRH D. Juan de Borbón, Count of Barcelona, in whose honour a tournament which bears his name is held every year in August. The course emerged from the wild beauty of Dehesa de Campoamor between two interconnected valleys surrounded by small hillocks that protect it from the wind, which generates a microclimate that enables the practice of golf any time of year.

Played this course many times over several years. It’s always been in good condition, but this trip we found it to be in supper condition. The fairways very lush, and the greens immaculate. The staff and Marshall all very helpful.

Slowest round of golf ever, needs a marshal to speed things up

Booking was not as I hoped. Tee times too close together. Over 5 hour round.

We arrived at 7.30am for an 8.04am tee off but only just made it due to someone complaining about no buggies. However the golf coure was lovely and green and very varied holes i would definitely play here again.

Nice golf course but tee times extremely badly managed. You can turn up and buy 9 holes and they send you to play the back 9 with no spaces available. Front 9 was great but got to back 9 and groups were turning up all over the place. Ended up with 2-3 groups waiting at each tee on back 9. If you get a full run at the course then no complaints but if this mismanagement continues then it’s a nightmare.
